200 Alabama Bicentennial

Celebrating Alabama’s 200th birthday2017 2018 2019

The Alabama Bicentennial Commission proudly announces the release of Alabama at 200. The bicentennial’s final report documents the people, places, events, and projects that made the state’s three-year commemoration a success.

“On December 14, 2019, we celebrated our 200th Alabama Day and the finale of a three-year, statewide bicentennial commemoration,” noted Commission Chairman Sen. Arthur Orr. “The state’s biggest birthday could not have happened without the efforts and commitment of many. The report is our thank you to each and every citizen who helped bring the celebration to life.”
Every Alabama county, hundreds of towns and communities, and thousands of Alabamians participated. Details and images of their activities richly illustrate the 124-book. Information about lasting legacies, such as Alabama Bicentennial Park and The Future Emerges from the Past: 200 Years of Alabama African American History and Culture, is included.
